In the Sienna, the cabin is decked out in high-quality fabric upholstery. Higher trim models get handsome leather upholstery and faux wood accents. More importantly, however, the Sienna supplies three rows of spacious seating for the whole family, with room for up to eight passengers. The second row slides farther fore and aft than competitors for true sprawl-out space. Also, the center section slides forward, so you can better reach a child seat from the first row.

The Pacifica cabin also feels airy and open, and it’s got an impressive array of cubbies, bins, and slots for your carryon items. The infamous Stow ‘n Go second-row seats fold into the floor, so you can maximize cabin space in a jiffy. We also like how roomy the third-row seats are. However, if we had to choose, we’d say the Sienna’s seats are definitely more comfortable – especially in the second row.

The Sienna’s touchscreen infotainment interface is within easy reach of the driver seat, so that’s one less thing you have to worry about. All models come standard with Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity to maximize smartphone integration. The same goes for Siri Eyes Free functionality, which gives iPhone users the power to use voice controls to check voicemail, etc., without lifting a finger from the steering wheel.

The Chrysler Pacifica isn’t far behind. It, too, provides an easy-to-use infotainment interface in the Uconnect system. However, you won’t find sophisticated smartphone options like Siri Eyes Free – just the basics, like hands-free calling and audio streaming.

In government crash tests, the Sienna came away with a perfect five-star rating. If that’s not enough to put your mind at ease, test-drive a model with all-wheel drive. This performance technology enhances traction over wet or icy roads, so you can stay par for the course.

Similarly, the Chrysler Pacifica earned top marks in government crash tests. However, it doesn’t offer all-wheel drive, which can be a deal-breaker for drivers who do a lot of winter travelling. On the other hand, both minivans can be had with advanced driver aids like forward collision warning, which use radar to help you steer clear of danger.

The Pacifica wins this competition by a hair. It earns 19 city/28 highway mpg. On the road, you can expect a smooth quiet ride – which means you can freely converse with passengers all the way in the back row.
