EASTVIEW — Greg Peel, an
Eastview resident, recently published
“Silent Roads,” a book of poetry.
Publish America describes the book
as “a collection of poetry that is both
dark and poignant, yet leaves the reader
with hope.”
“My book is about life — the love
and the pain, the sorrow and the joy,”
Peel said.
He describes life as a journey to enjoy
and learn from, rather than a destination.
“Grab the good things as they come
our way and and learn to overcome the
tough times,” Peel said.
The title poem is seen through the
eyes of a couple, who, after living a
long and rocky life, realize they have
lost the fire in their relationship. After
reflecting on their lives, they rediscover
the love they lost along the way.
“We yearn to be happy, free of hard
times,” Peel said. “It’s the tough times
that define us, its the tough times that
make us who we are.”
Peel, originally from Texas, now
lives in Eastview with his wife, Pamela;
their three children, Deanna, Brian and
Pamela; and his grandson, Austin.
Barnes and Noble will host a book
signing from 2 to 8 p.m. on Sept. 20.
“Silent Roads” can be purchased online
through most bookstore Web sites.
Peel didn’t choose to be a writer, he
said writing chose him instead.
“I can remember as a young man
sitting alone in the dark with clinched
fists trying to release this voice that was
gnawing away at my insides,” he said.
“I wrote out of instinct, for my very survival
— it’s my therapy.”
